Michael Oliva

PMHNP-BC

Michael Oliva is a Miami native and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides thoughtful, evidence-based care through telehealth. He works with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, and brings experience across inpatient, outpatient, crisis stabilization, detox, correctional, and virtual care settings. His background includes roles with Jackson, Park Royal, Broward Health, outpatient detox, psychosocial rehabilitation, and family-centered support services, giving him a broad understanding of mental health across different stages of life and levels of care.

Michael’s approach is practical, conscientious, and patient-centered. He focuses not only on diagnosis, but on symptoms, functioning, life experience, and the whole person. He values clear communication, realistic goals, and sustainable treatment plans, and he is especially mindful of medication safety and avoiding unnecessarily complicated regimens when a simpler, more effective approach may be appropriate. His work includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, symptom tracking, and the use of structured tools such as screening questionnaires and clinical rating scales to help guide care.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and later completed his Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Nova Southeastern University. His education combines behavioral science, nursing, and psychiatric training, providing a foundation for comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment across the lifespan.

He treats a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar-related symptoms, and other mood and behavioral challenges, and he places strong emphasis on building a therapeutic alliance so patients feel heard, supported, and understood. Whether someone comes in with clear treatment goals or is still trying to figure out what is wrong, his goal is to help them better understand their symptoms and move toward meaningful, workable solutions. He is also fluent in Spanish, which helps expand access to care for a diverse patient population.
